Nice to hear she was happy to try a different pattern - not everyone is! Thanks for commenting!

Love this article! I spent two weeks with our Dutch foreign exchange daughters family in 2019. Every day at exactly noon, while standing at the freezer, the Mom would ask "how many bread?" The first day of this I felt a little out of place because they laid out every type of broodje topping they had, and I proceeded to make myself a proper US cold cut sandwich while they all did...well you know the normal Dutch lunch. I soon learned that the answer for me was 4 slices and I quite enjoyed it and sometimes miss it. Prior to this visit, the girl lived with us in the US for a year. She was tickled to not have to make her own lunch every morning and most of the time ate the school hot lunch enthusiastically. Our school district also has an extensive salad/cold food bar for no added charge funded by the ala carte junk profits. Other wise I imagine she would have packed a lunch more often. haha!
